GAMBARAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN REMAJA TENTANG HIPERTENSI DI SMK NEGERI 1 PROPPO

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Hypertension is a disorder of the blood vessel walls that causes an increase in blood pressure, resulting in inadequate oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissues. Knowledge is the understanding possessed by adolescents about various things, including technology, art, culture, and social issues. The purpose of this study was to determine the overview of adolescent knowledge level about hypertension at SMKN 1 Proppo. Method : This study used a descriptive design. The population and sample were 60 students of SMKN 1 Proppo aged 17-18 years, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was done using multiple-choice questionnaires. Data were analyzed descriptively (percentage) and presented in tables and narratives. Results: Almost half of the respondents had poor knowledge about hypertension, namely 22 people (37%) and almost half of the respondents had good knowledge, namely 17 people (28%). Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be concluded that almost half of the respondents had poor knowledge about hypertension. Therefore, it is necessary to make gradual changes that are based on knowing, willing, and being able to apply knowledge. The role of health workers in providing education through demonstrations about hypertension, its causes, and treatment is essential to improve respondents' knowledge.
